About the garment

A straight and pant set in beige, with a hand-painted floral motif rather than embroidered or printed detailing — a Pakistani-pret silhouette, cut closer to the body than a traditional Indian kurta with a straighter, less-flared hem. The carries its own printed pattern, distinct from the kurta's painted florals.

The craft

Hand-painting is slower and more direct than embroidery or block printing — the motif is brushed straight onto the fabric, so no two pieces in this technique are ever quite identical. Chanderi is chosen for its light sheen, which lets the painted colour sit crisply against the beige ground.
