About the garment

A three-piece palazzo set in metallic ivory, with the shirt delicately hand-embroidered rather than densely worked — a lighter-touch embellishment that lets the metallic base fabric carry much of the visual interest on its own. The is woven in silk, a heavier and more formal fabric than the rest of the set.

The craft

The is woven, not printed or embroidered — its gold motifs are built into the fabric on the loom, a Banaras tradition distinct from the shirt's separately worked hand embroidery. Pairing a lighter metallic-ivory shirt with a fully woven Banarasi dupatta gives the set two different registers of formality in one outfit.
