Teal Heavy Embroidered Crop Top Sharara With Cape
Cowrie shells on a belt is the detail that makes this set specific to one place and time
- Mirror Work
- Resham
About the garment
A teal blue indo-western set: a heavily embroidered crop top, wide-legged sharara pants, a cowrie shell belt, and a cape. The crop top is structured and embroidered across the full surface. The cowrie belt sits at the waist and is the single most interesting element in a set that has a lot going on. The cape falls from the shoulders to mid-thigh. The sharara gives the lower half volume that balances the embellished top. Four pieces that operate as a single considered look.
The craft
Crafted in Jaipur with the block-printing and embroidery traditions of Rajasthan. The heavy embroidery on the crop top uses thread and possibly — teal blue responds particularly well to multi-technique embellishment because the depth of the colour doesn't flatten under embellishment the way lighter tones can. The cowrie belt is hand-assembled.

Styling notes
- Gold strappy heeled sandals — teal and gold is the natural pairing
- Statement earrings that work with teal: turquoise, tiger's eye, or plain gold
- Wear the cape for formal portions; remove it to change the proportion of the look
Care notes
- Dry clean the embroidered top and cape; hand-wash the sharara separately in cold water
- Store the cowrie belt separately to prevent shells from snagging the fabric
