About the garment

A six-and-a-half yard Banarasi silk heirloom saree in deep crimson, paired with a custom-stitched zardozi blouse. The pallu carries an all-over jaal of stylised motifs in real silver-gilt zari, set against an unbroken field of crimson silk. Designed for the milestone reception or the festive season's headline piece — this is the heaviest piece in the atelier.

The craft

Woven on the Naqshbandi cluster's family handlooms in Banaras. The pallu alone takes eight weeks of one weaver's days. The blouse is hand-laid zardozi from the Lucknow cluster, attached with the cluster's identifier card.

Styling notes
  • Temple jewellery — long haram, jhumkas, vanki
  • Hair in a low bun with mogra or jasmine
  • Closed-toe heeled juttis in oxblood or gold
  • Skip the dupatta-with-saree pairing — the pallu is the headcover
Care notes
  • Specialist Banarasi dry-clean only
  • Store wrapped in muslin · refold every six months
  • Will be photographed and re-worn for decades · treat it like the heirloom it is
