Pastel Blue Saree with Resham-and-Pearl Cape — Made to Order

A ready-to-wear sareesareeA 5-9 yard length of unstitched cloth draped around the body and over the shoulder — the universal Indian formal. in pastel blue chinon, set apart by a long attached cape finished in resham (silk thread) and pearl embellishment, and a light gold embroidered blouse. This is the atelier's most involved piece in the current release, and it's made to order rather than held in fixed sizes — every piece is cut to the customer's measurements once ordered, which is also why the lead time is longer than the rest of the catalogue.

The cape is the focal construction — resham embroidery in a tonal thread, layered with pearl work along the cape's edge, extending the saree's silhouette well past the shoulder line. Chinon carries the saree body and blouse; the cape's resham work is dense enough that a heavier fabric would have made the whole piece too weighted to drape properly.
